If your family is approaching a Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration, we wish you a mazel tov (congratulations) and are so glad you have come to the right place. We are very excited that your family will celebrate with the other members of our community so that together we can acknowledge the blessing of having reached this milestone not only for you, but for the entire Jewish people.

We at CTJ are extremely proud of our B’nai Mitzvah as they not only learn how to read Torah for our community, but they also fully understand why Torah matters in their lives and in our world today.

Our students spend meaningful one-on-one time with our clergy as they prepare for their big day, and with their peers who are experiencing this journey along with them.

We hope the resources below will demystify the days and months prior to the celebration. Of course, if you have additional questions, we are always here to help.

B'nai Mitzvah Dates & Requirements

B’nai Mitzvah dates are requested and assigned in the spring of the 5th-grade year.

Prior to requesting a B’nai Mitzvah date, families must be members in good standing at CTJ, meaning all current membership dues and religious school tuition are up to date according to membership renewal arrangements. Students are expected to be enrolled in religious school and families must remain members in good standing in order to retain their assigned B’nei Mitzvah date.
(The Finance Committee will review special circumstances on a case-by-case basis.)

B'nai Mitzvah Fee

The B’nai Mitzvah fee is $2,200 and must be paid in full no later than April 15 of the 5th-grade year in order to request a B’nai Mitzvah date.

At the time a date is requested, families must also be current on membership dues and religious school fees.

Questions regarding payments or special arrangements should be directed to the bookkeeper at accounting@ctjmb.org.
